Lawn Turfing

Lawn Turfing – Wokingham, Maidenhead, Berkshire

We are often asked when is the best time to lay new turf. New lawns can be laid at any time of year provided you carry out the proper preparation and then keep the new lawn and the subsoil moist for the first six weeks. We lay complete new lawns in Wokingham, Maidenhead. However we sometimes find that it is possible to renovate or revitalise your existing lawn. We provide professional advice so you can make an informed decision on the best way forward to suit your requirements and budget.

Often the lawn can be treated by controlling the moss and scarifying. Scarifying removes the choking thatch and dead moss and gives space for the grass to rejuvenate. Where the lawn is compacted, aeration or tining hollow tining allows the nutrients into the lawn and gives the earthworms the space to work their magic and improve the lawn for you.

The process for laying a new or replacement lawn includes:

  • Strip existing lawn and dispose of the waste
  • Rotivate and remove residual rubble
  • Prepare and level the surface, if necessary we will recommend adding topsoil to help level the lawn.
  • Use premium grade turf- after all that preparation, only the best will do.
  • Lay the new turf in stripes so that it looks good even while it is getting established
  • After-care information advice to help you maintain your new lawn.
  • Your input is watering the new lawn each evening with a sprinkler. Keep this up for 6 weeks after it is newly laid, to ensure you get a deep well established root structure.
